Terms of Service

Plain-language terms that govern your use of iKanBan. No legalese traps.

Effective date: March 18, 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the iKanBan service (the "Service") at app.ikanban.org, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Self-hosted deployments under the MIT license are governed by that license, not these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at admin@mg.ikanban.org if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use that occurs before you notify us.

You may not share your login credentials with third parties or use another user's account without their permission.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

5. Your content

You retain ownership of all boards, cards, and other content you create in iKanBan. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process your content solely to operate and improve the Service.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your content does not violate third-party intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any applicable law.

6. API keys

API keys generated through the Service are the responsibility of the account holder. You must keep API keys confidential. We display each key exactly once at creation — we cannot recover a lost key on your behalf. Revoke compromised keys immediately from the Settings page.

7. Free and paid plans

The Free plan is provided without a payment obligation and may be subject to usage limits (e.g. team member caps) as documented on the Pricing page. Paid plans are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

8. Service availability

We aim for high availability but make no uptime guarantee on the Free plan. We may perform scheduled maintenance with advance notice where practical. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate the Service at any time, though we will provide reasonable notice where possible.

9. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without prior notice depending on severity. Upon termination, your data will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, iKanBan's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Georgia.
